Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026. This page explains what information PrepMe collects, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

When you create a PrepMe account, we collect basic details such as your name, email address, grade and the subjects you study — either entered directly or provided via Google Sign-In. As you use the app, we also store your study activity: quiz and exam attempts, scores, XP and Arena Points, streaks, badges, duel results and any videos, comments or profile details you choose to add.

How we use your information

We use this information to run PrepMe's core features: tracking your progress, calculating XP, Arena Points and leaderboard rankings, powering the AI Tutor, matching you in VS Mode duels, and showing you relevant study content for your grade and subjects. We may also use aggregated, anonymised data to improve the app and understand which content helps learners most.

Sharing your information

We do not sell your personal information. Your display name, avatar and public stats may be visible to other learners (for example, on leaderboards, duels and public profile pages you choose to share). We only share data with third-party service providers (such as our hosting and authentication providers) where needed to operate PrepMe, and only to the extent required.

Data security

We use industry-standard tools (including Supabase for authentication and database storage) with access controls designed to protect your information. No system is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to safeguard your data against unauthorised access, loss or misuse.

Your rights

Under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), you have the right to access, correct or request deletion of your personal information. You can update most details yourself from your Profile page, or contact us using the details below to make a request.

Cookies & local storage

PrepMe uses cookies and browser local storage to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and support core functionality such as the study timer and onboarding tour. We do not use these for third-party advertising.

Children's privacy

PrepMe is built for matric (Grade 10–12) learners. If you are under the age required by law to consent to use of online services without a parent or guardian, please get a parent or guardian's permission before creating an account.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as PrepMe grows. Significant changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
